Bridgend Badminton Club
Bridgend badminton club was established in 2009 for competitive players looking to play in the Bridgend area. If you’re looking to play badminton in Bridgend you’ve come to the right place.
We play Mondays and Thursdays, in the sports centre at Brackla, (Archbishop McGrath school), 8-10pm. Monday is the best night to try out during the season as we play matches on Thursdays. However, we also play through the summer, with both nights being used for practice. We are always on the lookout for new players, so if you’re looking to join a competitive badminton club in the Bridgend area, why not come down to try out with us.
The club, like most in the area, caters for doubles, we do not play singles. We field teams in the local leagues (Cardiff and Swansea). We use feather shuttles for both club play and matches. If you’ve only played with plastic shuttles in the past these may take a bit of getting used to. There are also a couple of people in the club able to restring your badminton racquet if needed.
As well as having a good standard of play the club is also quite social. We always attend the Cardiff league’s presentation night and quiz night, and throughout the year the club has a few internal competitions just for fun.
If you come to see us, drive into Archbishop McGrath school, ignoring the first car park on the left, carry on up the small hill and through the metal gates. Keep going and you’ll see the sports centre car park. The badminton hall is located in the school building. Go through the glass doors, turn left and then the first door on the left after a small set of steps. Shower facilities are available.
